It has been 5 years since I had that life-changing conversation with my friend and decided to live in freedom, or at least getting closer to it. There are lots of things happens, lots of stories made and lots of lesson I could learn from. So on this 5-years milestone, I want to reflect and share what has happen and what I’ve learn from those. Let’s start!

Dua pekan lalu, Indonesia baru saja merayakan peringatan kemerdekaan yang ke-delapan puluh tahun lamanya. 17 Agustus 2025 memang menjadi tanggal yang istimewa karena tepat 80 tahun yang lalu di tanggal yang sama, setelah ratusan tahun berusaha, para tokoh bangsa berkumpul untuk mendeklarasikan kata merdeka. Untuk pertama kalinya jua, bendera pusaka berkibar perkasa, membumbung tinggi di langit nusantara.

Ditengah siang bolong di hari yang cerah, sewaktu makan siang bersama tim, manager gue tiba-tiba mengucapkan satu kalimat yang cukup membuat gue tersedak: “Today is a special day because I decided to expedite Ayyub’s probation end date today”. Dan, ya, setelah one-on-one meeting bersama reporting manager (dan menyelesaikan e-course tentunya), gue secara resmi menyelesaikan masa probation.

The last few days are long-weekend in Thailand. Last Thursday was may-day, while every country in the world celebrates labor work by marking the day to be a holiday. This Monday is also a holiday in Thailand, it’s a ‘Coronation Day’. I guess this is the day when the King/Queen is formally crowned as a legitimate King of Thailand monarch. That’s why, a few days back, my manager was asking me about my plan on the long holiday. Almost all of my work-colleague are taking on-leave on the Friday. Some of them are planning to relax in Pattaya, one of them are going to Vietnam, and I heard that there’s also people that going to Japan. I, myself, decided to take a rest at my apartment, just scrolling my handphone, doing nothing. Suddenly, there is a notification from Google Photos. “Relive the moment”
